Week 1: Let’s Kick Things Off!
Welcome to your first class! You’ll meet a few other local parents-to-be who’ll be sharing this exciting journey with you over the next 5 weeks. Expect good chats, real talk, and maybe even some new friendships.
We’ll dive into what’s going on with your body in the final stretch of pregnancy, and explore the amazing power of hormones, what they’re doing, how they help, and why they matter.
You’ll get to understand the signs and stages of labour, and we’ll start laying the groundwork for a positive birth experience. We’ll chat about perineal massage (yes, really!) and pelvic floor exercises that can make a big difference.
Get to know about birth choices. Whether you’re thinking hospital, birth centre, or home, we’ll explore the benefits of each and what the evidence says. This is your birth, your way, and we’re here to help you feel confident about it.

Week 2: Move, Stretch, and Get Baby in the Zone
Time to get moving (gently, of course)! This week we’ll try out some easy, feel-good movements and techniques that you can do at home to ease pregnancy niggles and help encourage your baby into an optimal position for birth. We’ll also explore labour positions that can make a real difference, even if you’re planning on having an epidural.
We’ll chat about what happens if your baby keeps you waiting past your expected date. You’ll get the full lowdown on your options, what the procedures are for, and why they’re offered. No pressure, just good info to help you feel calm and in control.
We’ll also open up an honest, supportive conversation about making choices that feel right for you. What if something offered doesn’t sit well with you? Let’s talk about your options, your voice, and how to navigate your care with confidence.

Week 3: Let’s Talk Labour – The Real Deal
This week is all about established labour, what it feels like, when to call your midwife, and how to stay in the driver’s seat with your choices.
Lets swap ideas on how to handle early labour at home (think comfort, calm, and snacks!) and go through your pain relief options for every stage. From breathing techniques to epidurals, we’ll chat through the pros and cons so you feel confident and clued-up.
We’ll also take an honest look at the procedures that might be suggested during labour and birth, like assisted delivery with forceps or a vacuum, or a possible c-section. Explore why these might be offered, what your options are, and how to stay involved in decision-making if things take a different turn.
By the end of this session, you’ll feel more prepared, informed, and ready to meet your baby, whatever path your labour takes.

Week 4: Welcome to the Fourth Trimester
This week, we’re jumping ahead to what happens after baby arrives, the early hours, days, and weeks of new parent life.
We’ll talk through those first magical (and sometimes messy) moments: holding your baby skin-to-skin, cutting the cord (or not), and your options around baby’s vitamin K.
Also get to know what’s normal in new-borns and what’s not, so you feel more confident spotting when something’s off. For you, we’ll chat about post-birth recovery, both physical and emotional, and how both parents can look after their mental health.
Expect plenty of real-life tips, reassurance, and space to ask the questions you’ve been too shy to Google. This session is all about helping you feel more prepared and less overwhelmed for the early days with your baby.

Week 5: Baby Care Basics & Getting Ready for Parent Life
It’s our final session. Let’s go out with a bang (and a giggle)! This week is all about looking after your brand new baby. You’ll get hands on demos of things like baby bathing, nappy changing, safe sleep tips, prepping feeds, soothing techniques, and more.
We’ll also dive into breastfeeding, what to expect, how to get started, and where to find support if you need it. No pressure, just practical info to help you feel as ready as possible.
But it’s not just about baby, we’ll talk about you too. What’s it really like to become a parent? We’ll chat about common challenges, how to make things feel a bit more manageable, and where to find support when you need it.
Then it’s time for a cheerful send-off! We’ll say goodbye (for now) and send you off with loads of good vibes, and we can’t wait to hear your amazing birth stories when the time comes.
